November 2010 Newsletter from Mary Montague Sikes

Book Signing

Mary Montague Sikes will be signing copies of her Passenger to Paradise book series at the First Colony & Friends 3rd Annual Holiday Art Bazaar, Saturday, November 6. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the First Colony Park and Clubhouse, Williamsburg.

Night Watch, the latest novel in the Passenger to Paradise series, is set on the island of Trinidad and in the Grenadines.  Much of the story is based on Sikes own experiences during visits to the islands. Other mystery/romance novels in the series are Secrets by the Sea, set on the island of Antigua, Hearts Across Forever, set on the island of Jamaica, and Eagle Rising, set in the Red Rock community of Sedona, AZ.

Sikes will be at Prince George Art & Frame, 107 Colony Square for the annual Jamestown Road Holiday Open House. While there on November 6, she will demonstrate her painting techniques from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sikes artwork is part of How I Spent My Vacation: New Works 2010, currently on view in the gallery.

This exhibition runs until November 27. More info

Secrets by the Sea

Folks who like stories with a ghost or two attached may enjoy the tale of a spirit that has lingered for several hundred years in an old house overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Molly Dansey has hung around Edgewater Manor in Antigua since the late 1700s waiting for someone to discover a cache of gold coins she hid before her death. She appears from time to time holding her lantern, then disappears up the staircase in the center of the ancient house that Dana Sinclair has inherited.

Secrets by the Sea is the story of the mysterious death of Dana's grandfather and Dana's quest to uncover the murderer even if it turns out to be Clifton Wilder, the enigmatic neighbor who might steal her heart. Her grandfather's diary holds many secrets--some she wishes she had not discovered.

As I was writing this story, many of the characters took over to create an unexpected outcome. And the ghosts played their own part...
