Author and artist Mary Montague Sikes will meet readers and sign books at the William and Mary Barnes & Noble on Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg on Friday, June 1 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Her latest novels, A Rainbow for Christmas, Jungle Jeopardy, Secrets by the Sea, and Night Watch will be available for purchase.

In April, A Rainbow for Christmas, won first place for young adult books, fiction in the Virginia Press Women 2012 Communications Contest and is part of the National Federation of Press Women 2012 Communications Contest. Winners of that competition will be announced at the National Conference, September 20-22 in Scottsdale AZ.

A Rainbow for Christmas takes place in 1869 on a wagon train traveling from Missouri to Denver, Colorado. Dairies written by brave women who endured numerous hardships as they helped settle the West inspired Sikes to write her book.

Jungle Jeopardy is an adventure story set among fictitious Maya ruins in Central America and is based on trips Sikes has taken to ruins in Palenque and in Chichen Itza in Mexico. Characters from Sikes´┐Ż 2009 novel Secrets by the Sea head out on a new search for a priceless coin, the Brasher doubloon and discover danger and unexpected mysteries in the jungle. Jungle Jeopardy, Secrets by the Sea, and Night Watch are part of the Passenger to Paradise exotic destinations book series.
